Living in a small town is charming and people are so friendly! We chose to live in Springfield, MO because it was home to our girls and my family in Ohio was finally within driving distance.
For me, moving here was a huge adjustment though, having lived on the West Coast for my entire adult life. But we have so many beautiful lakes and water attractions here so if you are an outdoors enthusiast, Springfield is the place to live! Each freshwater lake seems to offer different attractions. Table Rock Lake is great for any water sport along with camping and fishing, Lake of the Ozarks is surrounded by great restaurants and golf courses and Stockton Lake is great for those who love to sail! Did you know Stockton Lake is rated one of the top 10 sailing lakes in the United States, and it’s right in our backyard!
We also have world class attractions with Wonders of Wildlife, Bass Pro Shops and the Arts & Culture scene is abundant! Springfield’s nickname is “The Queen City of the Ozarks” and is also known as “The Cultural Center of the Ozarks.” There are so many talented artists that share their creativity at the First Friday Art Walk every month downtown. House Counsel also showcases original artwork in our store from Jacqueline Warren!
Springfield is also known as “The Birthplace of Route 66,” which would be a special road trip if we ever decided to drive back to California!
We especially love Top of the Rock with its exclusive accommodations and it is just an hour’s drive from Springfield. The sprawling landscape is stunning and who can ever forget the picturesque “End of Trail” sculpture by James Earl Fraser.
And there is no real rush hour in a small town since Springfield occupies a whopping 82.31 square miles! After a long day, windshield time is roughly 5 minutes, which certainly provides a higher quality of life!
Midwest living is uncomplicated, and everything seems possible. Since we opened our store, we have experienced the community’s kindness firsthand, people here are so genuine and all heart and soul, and they care about their community.
I think we’ll call Springfield home for a while!
